About Business Leaders Group (BLG)

The Business Leaders Group engages and partners with Prominent Business Leaders (PBLs), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and local Young Business Leaders (YBLs) in Business China’s network. We also organise the annual Advanced Leaders Programme (ALP) which is an apex study programme to China targeting senior public officers and young business leaders.

This role offers opportunities to interact with highly talented and extraordinary leaders from a wide range of industries, ranging from supply chain to Web 3.0. You will be involved in planning and organising a variety of engagement activities that will expose you to many different businesses. The role also includes the opportunity to travel overseas as part of the ALP programme annually.

1. Assistant Manager/Manager/Senior Manager, Business Leaders Group

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Manage BLG’s efforts in identifying, building and maintaining relationships with Prominent Business Leaders (PBLs), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and local Youth Business Leaders (YBLs) with significant economic interests in both China and Singapore, and other countries.
  2. Develop strategies to support Singaporean businessmen and Chinese businessmen by facilitating engagements and fostering deeper links between the groups.
  3. Plan and execute Business China’s Advanced Leaders Programme (ALP) and ALP Alumni Programme, including marketing and recruitment efforts, identifying potential participants, coordinating programmes, and overseeing administrative and logistical matters related to the execution of the programmes for Singapore and overseas components.
  4. Foster and maintain relationship with the ALP Alumni Executive Committee (EXCO).
  5. Lead and manage the curation of BLG’s regular programme series, including theme-scoping, speakers’ management and event management. To also conduct hosting of the event should the need arise.
  6. Produce BLG-related media invites, pre-event publicity materials, Facebook posts, event reports, thank you notes and so on, in both English and/or Mandarin.
  7. Draft and edit admin programmes, speeches. supplements, official letters, interview questions and collateral write-ups as and when required in both English and/or Mandarin.
  8. Research and prepare briefs on potential BLG members.
  9. Draft notes of meeting after external engagements.
  10. Translate articles and/or written content/reports from English to Chinese, and vice-versa.
  11. Any other duties, tasks or responsibilities designated by the Deputy Director.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin in written and verbal communication.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Degree in Business, Marketing, Chinese Studies, Social Science, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, or other relevant disciplines.
  3. Good knowledge and interest in China and international relations.
  4. Prior international experience preferred (especially in Greater China region). At least 3-10 years of relevant working experience or at least 2 years of working experience in events management, such as organising conferences, forums and webinars.
  5. This is an individual contributor role, although you may lead project teams. Being a self-starter is essential, especially in the areas of stakeholder/partner engagement/management.
  6. Keen interest in the Web 3.0 space and knowledge of technology trends would be highly advantageous.

About FutureChina (FC)

The FutureChina (FC) division focuses on trend watching, topical studies and content curation on China’s economy and international relations with Singapore and other countries. We organise Business China’s annual flagship event – the FutureChina Global Forum (FCGF), an international platform for business leaders and experts to share their views, experiences and assessment, and to discuss about China. We also organise the Business China Awards, which aims to honour outstanding individuals and enterprises for their contributions to Singapore-China relations. The FutureChina division maintains a strong corporate and government network in Singapore and the region, and brings exclusive value and China’s insights to Business China’s corporate members.

This role allows you to be in the thick of exciting research, analysis and discussions on the current and future developmental trajectory, economic and business trends in China, and with Chinese businesses in other countries.

1. Associate/Senior Associate, FutureChina

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Process corporate membership applications and renewals, which includes getting relevant documents ready and researching on member companies, as well as maintaining the corporate membership system.
  2. Develop programmes and their contents for the company, such as FutureChina Global Forum (FCGF) and Business China Awards (BCA).
  3. Liaise with partners with regard to the content of the event and logistical arrangements for the various programmes. Partners include hotels, various vendors, management companies, design vendors, photography vendors, printing vendors and so on.
  4. Perform administrative work when engaging various vendors (Purchase Requisition Forms or PRFs, ITQ, quotations, invoices and so on).
  5. Prepare admin programmes for Board of Directors when they attend any of our events.
  6. Schedule FC committee meetings and liaise with PAs of FC committee members to secure committee’s time slots for various events.
  7. Prepare committee meeting slides and other materials, as well as the venue.
  8. Design and creating EDMs for events.
  9. Prepare emcee scripts and being emcee for BC events, such as dialogue series, press conference and so on.
  10. Conduct research on latest trends and topics for programme development.
  11. Collate RSVPs from participants and process their registration for various events.
  12. Engage speakers, such as for FCGF, to settle administrative matters, including arranging meetups with other speakers, getting their biographies and so on.
  13. Translate programme contents, such as synopsis, speakers’ biography and titles.
  14. Draft concept papers for FC events and invitation letters for various programmes.
  15. Do market scan prior to events and for the review of corporate memberships.
  16. Prepare meeting minutes for committee meetings as well as other meetings with various partners.
  17. Send invitation emails and letters to corporate members.
  18. Any other tasks, duties or responsibilities designated by the Manager or Director.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin in written and verbal communication.
  2. Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Chinese Studies, Social Science, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, or other relevant disciplines.
  3. Good knowledge and interest in China and international developments.
  4. Keen interest in research, event organising, public speaking at major events/meetings and interaction with relevant stakeholders.
  5. At least 1-2 years of relevant working experience. However, fresh graduates are also welcome to apply.

  7. This is a people manager role, with up to 4 direct reports. Being a self-starter is critical, especially in the areas of stakeholder/partner engagement/management.

About Go East (GE)

You(th) are the future. With the rapid changes in China and the world, it is essential for the younger generation to have a global perspective. While we look to the West, we should also have a balanced view by looking to the East, to find the bridge between the two worlds. 

The Go East (GE) division (东游记), which literally means “A Journey to the East” in Chinese, is established under Business China to drive this purpose. We develop and execute programmes to nurture a group of Singapore-China savvy talents, by building a unique platform for our youths to enhance their bilingual skills, understand the latest development and trends in China, and develop deeper links between Singapore and China, and beyond. This role will allow you to directly participate in fostering stronger bilingual, bicultural and international mindset and skills amongst our youths.

1. Assistant Manager/Manager, Go East

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Support the development of strategies and approaches to cultivate and nurture a pool of bilingual and bicultural, China-savvy and China-ready youths such as students from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), young working professionals and young entrepreneurs.
  2. Spearhead and assist in developing and implementing programmes and activities for youths. This includes, but is not limited to building, maintaining and expanding partnerships with partners and stakeholders for relevant programmes.
  3. Provide support and guidance for youth members in organising activities that will contribute to the organisation’s cause.
  4. Lead content development and conceptualisation of knowledge-rich programmes for youths.
  5. Assist in the ongoing strategic review and conduct macro environment scan of the China market in Singapore; be responsible for scoping, designing, and delivering outreach sessions on China-readiness to students in Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs).
  6. Provide support in researching talking points and drafting speeches for senior management to speak at high-profile conferences, interviews, forums and so on.

Corporate Services

1. Assistant Manager/Manager, IT & Event Management

Responsibilities

You will play a leading role in ensuring that the various programmes of Business China are well-organised and run smoothly, thereby directly contributing to the outreach and impact of Business China to its customers and stakeholders. Working closely with the Programme Units and vendors, you will be leading event organisation and project management, in support of the Programme Units within Business China for key flagship events (but not only) such as the Future China Global Forum (FCGF) and the Advanced Leadership Programme (ALP).

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Provide support and assistance to the team on vendors’ ITQ, ITT, shortlisting and selection.
  2. Ability to negotiate with vendors, suppliers and hotels.
  3. Budget, source, connect and liaise with suppliers in relation to specific project needs.
  4. Oversee project flow from start till end, paying attention to details of the project requirement on all aspects, from set-up till tear down, post-event reports, and so on.
  5. Provide assistance and support to programme teams.
  6. Assist programme teams with implementation of activities.
  7. Any other tasks, activities or responsibilities designated by the CEO or the department head.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Diploma/Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality or Project Management.
  2. At least 4 years of relevant working experience is preferred.

About Strategic Communications & Partnerships

The Strategic Communications & Partnerships team oversees Business China's communication and partnership engagement strategies.

As a member of our small but dynamic team, you will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and partners to drive Business China’s mission and vision to nurture an inclusive bilingual and bicultural group of Singaporeans, sustain our multi-cultural heritage, and develop a cultural and economic bridge linking the world and China.

  1. Strategic Communications:
    1. Develop Business China’s media and corporate communication strategies to construct a positive public image of Business China.
