On 9 April, Mr Lee Yi Shyan, chairman of Business China, attended a session on “Getting the Distance Right: Close, but Clean” during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2018 in Bo’ao, south China’s Hainan Province.
Mr Lee said, in terms of “Close”, the Singapore government has adopted a pro-business policy and created a pro-business environment. The government facilitates corporates with an efficient, transparent and sound legal system. He also expressed that healthy government-business relations is a crucial part of a country’s core competitiveness.
Besides Mr Lee, Former Vice Minister of Commerce of China Liao Xiaoqi, and Founding Dean, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) Xiang Bing also attended the session. Sally Wu Xiaoli from Phoenix InfoNews Channel was the moderator of the session.
The discussion focused on the topics such as new form of government-business relations and how to establish positive interactions between government officials and businessmen.
Mr Lee Yi Shyan also attended ASEAN-China Governors/Mayors Roundtable, discussing about how regions along the Maritime Silk Road could ride the tides to open up new vistas for the cruise industry.
Mr Lee also met up with many Chinese provincial leaders and entrepreneurs to explore the possibility of cooperation.
