To usher the year of the Tiger, Business China held its annual Spring Reception on 16 February 2010, Tuesday. About 250 guests attended this event, invited guests include donors, board, members and working partners of Business China, diplomats and members of Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (SingCham). Business China is privileged to have Senior Minister, Mr Goh Chok Tong, as the Guest-of-Honour for the event.
In conjunction with Spring Reception 2010, Business China announced the launch of the Young Leaders Programme (YLP), which is supported by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, the lead agency promoting the overseas growth of Singapore-based enterprises and international trade.
Mr Chua Thian Poh, Chairman of Business China said, “ The programme is catered to the young who are keen to venture into China by providing a realistic learning environment. This immersion allows them to understand China’s social and business etiquette and get a headstart in their career in China. We are very pleased to have received Senior Minister Goh’s encouragement in the launching process of YLP.”
YLP is a 6-18 months mentor-led attachment in China and aims to grow a pool of young enthusiastic Singaporeans who are prepared for careers in dynamic China. Through this programme, they gain valuable work, live and play experience in China. YLP also enhances the China-readiness of Singapore-based companies. Till date, eight companies have come on board to offer 14 attachment vacancies.
Two YLP trainees will be available for media interviews. They will be embarking on their attachment in China early this year. Interview opportunities with the trainees can be arranged.
