The search is now on for the outstanding who have made the moves and built the ties. After a yearlong preparation, Business China has launched the Inaugural Business China Awards on 3 May 2010, to recognise honour outstanding businessmen, entrepreneurs, professionals and organisations for their successes and contributions to Singapore-China relationships and the appreciation of the Chinese language and culture.
The awards is also a significant event of Business China that marks the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China.
There are no limits to the number of winners for each category. Chairman for Business China Awards Organising Committee and Board Director of Business China, Mr Alan Chan explained that more may be awarded if our judging panel agrees that more nominees deserve to be recognised.
Mr Alan Chan added that nominations are free of charge and nomination forms are available for downloading from the award website. Self-nominations are also welcome.
Judging will take place from August, and on the judging panel are ten representatives from business world, civil societies, academia and media.
Chairman for Business China Awards Judging Panel Mr Lim Chee Onn elaborated on the judging criteria, “If it’s an entrepreneur, this could be his ability to exercise effective management. And if it’s an enterprise, the ability of its management to exercise good corporate governance.”
Business China is pleased that OCBC is the joint presenter for the awards for a 3-year period. OCBC Bank Global Head of Global Corporate Bank Mr Samuel Tsien said, “We firmly believe that by recognizing their leadership and celebrating their success, the Awards will inspire and encourage many others to deepen their reach in China and Singapore.”
From now till 4 June, individuals and organisations in Singapore or Greater China are encouraged to submit their nominations for the Business China Awards.
The awards gala dinner will be held this 23 November, in conjunction with Business China’s third anniversary celebrations. Guest-of-Honour will be Business China patron, Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
