46 students from the Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Chinese Media & Communication course spent an exciting afternoon at the E3 workshop organised by Business China on 19 September. Bound on a journey to Zhejiang University for their final year immersion programme in October, the students definitely understood more about the cultural differences between China and Singapore in a fun and relaxing environment.
Kicking off the workshop, the trainer, Ms Emilyn Poh gave a brief account on the diplomatic relationship between China and Singapore, to ensure that the students have a better understanding on the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The interactive element took off when the students were divided into groups and were instructed to design a poster to reflect their anticipation and fear of living and studying in China. Understanding their concerns, the trainer then answered their queries patiently and provided many tips on the essential etiquette in China.
In the brief 3 hours, the students gained an insight on China’s geography, current affairs and contemporary language. It was an invaluable lesson for them and most of them had positive feedback for the preparatory workshop.
One of the 3 male students in the class, Ng Jun Xian commended that the session was fresh and informative because not all facts could be found on the internet. It was more effective to extract information from real-life experience, especially from someone who had spent considerable amount of time in China. This will definitely leave a deeper impression in their minds.
Business China conceptualized the E3 workshop with the 3 fundamentals in mind: Excite, Explore & Experience. As such, Business China hoped to excite the students and prepare them for their journey through the fun and exploratory workshops, to ensure that they have a fruitful learning journey in China.
