National Chinese Riddle Competition 2012

The National Chinese Riddle Competition 2012 had a successful run on 19 May at Jurong Junior College (JJC). Jointly organised by Lianhe Zaobao, JJC and Riddle Association (Singapore), the Competition attracted participants made up of 33 teams from 15 secondary schools.

Guest-of-Honour was Ms Low Yen Ling, CEO of Business China. The judging panel included reputable Chinese riddle veterans.
The Competition was categorised into two sessions, the Preliminary Round and Grand Final. After an exciting individual and team written contest in the Preliminary Round, top 10 teams from each of the two categories, “Ordinary Chinese” and “Higher Chinese”, qualified for the Grand Final.

Finally, Clementi Town Secondary School was proven to be the “Champion of Chinese Riddles” by beating all their opponents to lift the trophies for both categories. The top 5 finalists from each category were all awarded with cash prizes and trophies.
As an appreciation towards Singapore’s contribution in promoting Chinese riddle culture, the Chinese Lantern Riddle Academic Committee awarded a plague to JJC and Riddle Association (Singapore) to wrap up the event.
