HONOURING EXEMPLARY ROLE MODELS IN SINGAPORE-CHINA RELATIONS
SINGAPORE, 24 March 2016 – Business China Awards 2016 is now open for nominations from 24 March 2016 to 7 April 2016.
The annual Business China Awards was incepted in 2010 and aimed at honouring outstanding businessmen, entrepreneurs, professionals and organisations for their successes and contributions to Singapore-China relations. Now into its seventh year, the Awards also aims to promote bilingualism and biculturalism in Singapore with the recognition of these exemplary role models.
The three categories of the Business China Awards are:
- Business China Excellence Award
- Business China Enterprise Award
- Business China Young Achiever Award
Besides being highly successful in their respective domains, the Awards recipients had exhibited sustained efforts and deepened relational initiatives in their engagements with Singapore and China. Business China Awards 2015’s recipients were Li Rongrong (Excellence Award), Founding Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of China and Vice Chairman, China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Keppel Corporation (Enterprise Award) and Tanya Chua (Young Achiever Award), a Singer Songwriter. They were honoured at The BCA 2015 Gala Dinner by Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister, and Coordinating Minister for National Security.
Chairman of the BCA organising committee, Mr Alan Chan, CEO of Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) and Board member of Business China said, “Since its inception in 2010, the Business China Awards has become an important accolade for exemplary individuals and organisations who have contributed significantly to the strengthening of Singapore-China bilateral relations and the promotion of bilingualism and biculturalism in Singapore. We encourage the public to nominate deserving candidates in order to acknowledge their sustained efforts and celebrate their successes.”
Chairman of Business China, Mr Chua Thian Poh emphasised the significance of the Awards, “The Business China Awards has become one of our signature annual events. By recognising these outstanding individuals and companies, we celebrate their commitment towards Singapore-China relations and hope that they will serve as inspiring role models, further encouraging aspiring young Singaporeans to recognise the importance of being both bicultural and bilingual.”

Nominations are open to Singapore citizens & PR, residents of Greater China, Singapore organisations; as well as China organisations registered in Singapore.
The results of the 2016 Business China Awards will be announced in November during the Awards Presentation Ceremony.
