Launch of YES Compass Workshop 2025 – Session One

Fun Fact: When adding a contact on WeChat, the correct etiquette is for the junior to scan the senior’s QR code. Do you know why? It’s all about giving them the choice of accepting your invite! In China, workplace culture goes beyond just language. Subtle etiquette rules like this lay the foundation for professional relationships. If you’re unfamiliar with these workplace “unspoken rules”, you might only learn them through firsthand experience, or even by making mistakes. That’s exactly why Business China launched the internship pre-departure workshop, YES Compass. Last Saturday, our YES interns gathered for the first session of this two-day workshop, conducted by Dr Chaik Ming Koh. Through engaging real-life scenarios and practical hands-on exercises, Dr Koh shared useful tips and insights to help Singaporean interns heading to China grasp the nuances of workplace etiquette, communicate effectively with locals, and adapt seamlessly to daily life so that they can navigate both work and life in China with confidence. The second session of the workshop takes place this Saturday—stay tuned for more essential workplace insights!
