Business China continues its effort to excite students to explore and experience contemporary and future China.
The first E3 workshop for year 2011 kicked off on 6 January with 20 students in the NUS Overseas Colleges Seminar Room. In the coming 6 to 12 months, these students would be studying and interning in various China cities, at multinational and leading enterprises to gain work experiences in one of the world’s most dynamic and fast-growing economies.
To help them prepare for their trip, Business China & NUS Overseas College had put together a two-part seminar held on 6 January and 13 January.
A highlight of the sessions was the screening of several videos featuring the contemporary lifestyles of Chinese and the differing characteristics of Northern and Southern Chinese. These videos transformed the conventional lectures into lively and amusing moments. It helped students relate better to the concepts discussed during the workshop, such as China’s geography, history and contemporary issues.
Quizzes and role-plays were also carried out to for students to put into practice what they had learned. They were also given more tips to make best use of their upcoming work and study opportunities. The workshops concluded with the sharing of experiences by four students who had recently returned from their China immersion.
The E3 participants gave positive feedback about the workshop. Most students felt that they had a better understanding of China and were more ready to live in this new territory.
In this year, E3 Workshop series will continue to reach out to more students from various institutions. Business China is excited to expose these students to the changing face of Chinese society and help them gain ground experience in China before they set foot in this vast land.
Excite, Explore & Experience are the three fundamentals that form the E3 workshop conceptualized by Business China. E3 workshop is a preparatory workshop for tertiary students before they embark on an immersion journey in China. With more than a thousand local tertiary students going to China for immersion programmes annually, Business China believes it is critical for as many students to understand the chronological developments of modern China and its social strata to have a fruitful journey.
