Business China Student Members Mid-Autumn Festival Gathering cum Business China Champ of Marketing 2.0 Competition Awards Ceremony

On 25 September, Business China student members had an early celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival in a gathering held at *SCAPE @ Orchard. In conjunction with the festive celebration, results of the inaugural Business China Champ of Marketing 2.0 online competition were also announced. Ms Low Yen Ling, CEO of Business China, and Mr Vincent Lim, representative from BreadTalk, presented the S$5,000 cash prize to “IdeaBakers” – the winning team. The team also won an exclusive internship trip to BreadTalk’s branch in Shanghai this December.

The Business China Champ of Marketing 2.0 competition was jointly organised by Business China and omy, a bilingual web portal set up by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd. This inaugural marketing competition challenged students to whip up fresh business proposals as well as delightful TV commercials for BreadTalk’s Mid-Autumn Festival campaign in Shanghai, China. The competition was opened for a period of 11 weeks for Singaporean or Permanent Resident students aged between 16 and 26. Eight teams qualified in the eventual round, where 3 winning teams walked away with cash prizes. Five ‘Lucky Voters’ who had voted online for their favourite TV commercial were also presented with S$100 BreadTalk vouchers each.

The event also marked the first-ever Mid-Autumn Festival gathering organised for Business China student members. Besides having their intellect teased by lantern riddles, students were treated to a spread of gourmet teas, festive mooncakes and pomelos. The Chinese action-comedy ‘Guns n Roses’ (黄金大劫案), provided youths with a sampling of the Chinese pop culture and its trends.

DJ Kenneth Kong from UFM 100.3 and Ms Chang Zi Ying, a Business China Youth Chapter member, were the emcees of the evening. Through the engaging activities presented by the two young emcees, Business China hopes to present the “fun” and functional side of Chinese and Mandarin.

Some 100 student members of Business China, aged from 13 to 26 and studying in local secondary schools, junior colleges, polytechnics or universities, as well as their parents and teachers attended the event.
