Business China CEO interacts with China Europe International Business School’s EMBA students

On 30th May 2019, Business China CEO Ms Tin Pei Ling was invited by China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) to a dialogue session with Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) delegation visiting Singapore. The sharing session provided the students a deeper understanding of Singapore’s business and investment environment.

Ms Tin began by sharing insights on the opportunities and challenges in the partnership between Singapore and China. She said that Singapore and China share deep ties across a wide-range of areas. Companies from both countries could collaborate on business opportunities, and Chinese enterprises could make use of Singapore’s natural advantage as a regional hub to enter the ASEAN market. She pointed out that due to regional developments, Southeast Asian countries might have certain misconceptions on China. Singapore is a founding member of ASEAN, is globally reputable and enjoy good relations with regional countries. Therefore, Singapore could play a bridging role by helping Chinese enterprises to understand the different markets in ASEAN, and help catalyse cooperation between businesses to achieve a mutually beneficial partnership.

As the US-China trade war intensifies, global outlook remains uncertain. Ms Tin said that Singapore will continue to remain as a neutral party and maintain good ties with both countries. She highlighted that Singapore and China are long-time friends, as well as good friends, and welcomed EMBA students to invest and develop in Singapore.

The 34 EMBA students participated enthusiastically in the Q&A session as they actively asked Ms Tin questions regarding Singapore government’s policies on industry development. Ms Tin expressed her optimism in deepening cooperation in technological partnerships between Singapore and China, and she hoped that companies in related fields in both countries can foster further collaborations.
