On 27 May 2025, Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Chairman of Business China, held a fireside chat with 25 senior executives from China Business Executives Academy ,Dalian. The dialogue centred around the theme of “Enterprise Innovation and Internationalisation”.
The session hosted by the Singapore Civil Service College, focused on key topics, including international strategies for state-owned enterprises (SOEs), global talent development, Singapore’s bilingual culture and strategic positioning amid US-China dynamics.
Drawing on his extensive experience in both government and business, Chairman Lee shared insightful advice through real-world examples and a global perspective:

Chairman Lee encouraged Chinese SOEs to explore markets beyond the US, emphasising the importance of tailored communication strategies to effectively showcase their unique strength.
“Management empowerment and crisis awareness go together”
He advised companies to strengthen organisational resilience by empowering overseas teams through decentralisation and open dialogue, while also building early-warning systems to manage global volatility.
“No one-size-fits-all strategy for regional growth”
He emphasised the importance of localised strategies, aligning investments with regional demographics and industrial needs, and avoiding a uniform approach.
