Business China’s C-Quotient Campus Series made its debut – Are you game to take on the Rising East

A word play on IQ (Intelligent Quotient) and EQ (Emotional Quotient), C-Quotient stands for “China-Quotient”, refers to the knowledge of China one possesses.

Business China’s C-Quotient Campus Series serves to impart practical knowledge of contemporary China to tertiary students and also to motivate them to keep pace with the developing relationship between China and the world. It will showcase outstanding speakers engaged in activities of interest to the youths, which include areas like: technology, lifestyle, popular culture, volunteerism and social entrepreneurship.

After months of preparation, the C-Quotient Campus Series made its debut on 26 Jun 2010. 2 creative experts, Miss Lim Sau Hoong and Mr Chase Ma were invited to share on the latest China trends while another guest speaker Mr Goh Chye Boon, CEO of Tianjin Eco City talked about his experience on the latest Singapore-China collaboration.

About 200 youths attended the launch of the C-Quotient Campus Series on Saturday. Besides hearing from the speakers, the launch also featured a mini museum showcasing creative works of Singaporeans related to China, enabling the participants to “see, feel and experience” China.

This project is undertaken by a group of young Business China members. By encouraging them to take part in the planning and organising of this programme, Business China hopes to generate ownership amongst the youth.

Chen Heng Hui, 24, one of the youths leading this project explained the motivation towards creating the C-Quotient Campus Series, “We realize that many of our peers hold certain misconceptions about China and Chinese culture. Hence through this interactive series, we hope our participants will have a better understanding of China in terms of history, culture and contemporary issues. This also provides a platform for like-minded individuals to share and connect.”

Business China’s C-Quotient Campus Series is held in partnership with Promote Mandarin Council. At the event, participants also gave their go at the Chinese Challenge 华文?谁怕谁!
