MEDIA RELEASE: Nominations Now Open for Business China Awards 2015

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF SINGAPORE-CHINA DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS, HONOURING EXCELLENCE IN SINGAPORE-CHINA TIES

SINGAPORE, 20 March 2015 – Business China Awards 2015 is now open for nominations from 20 March 2015 till 20 April 2015.

The annual Business China Awards, incepted in 2010 and aimed at honouring outstanding businessmen, entrepreneurs, professionals and organisations for their successes and contributions to Singapore-China relations, is now into its sixth year. With the recognition of these exemplary role models, the Awards also aims to promote bilingualism and biculturalism in Singapore.

The three categories of the Business China Awards are:

  • Business China Excellence Award
  • Business China Enterprise Award
  • Business China Young Achiever Award

Besides being highly successful in their respective domains, the Awards recipients had exhibited sustained efforts and deepened relational initiatives in their engagements with Singapore and China. Business China Awards 2014’s recipients were Dr Liu Thai Ker, Senior Director, RSP Architects Planners & Engineers Pte Ltd (Excellence Award), Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Enterprise Award) and JJ Lin, renowned Singer Songwriter (Young Achiever Award). The BCA 2014 Gala Dinner was graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs.

Chairman of the BCA organising committee, Mr Alan Chan, CEO of Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) and Board member of Business China, said: “Since its inception in 2010, the Business China Awards has been recognised as prestigious accolades for exemplary individuals and enterprises who have contributed significantly to the strengthening of Singapore-China relations and/or the promotion of bilingualism and biculturalism in Singapore. We encourage the public to nominate these deserving candidates to recognise their efforts and celebrate their successes. Building on the foundation of the past five years, we hope to receive more local and overseas nominations this year.”

Chairman of Business China, Mr Chua Thian Poh emphasised the significance of the Awards: “Business China is celebrating its Eighth Anniversary this year and the BCA is one of our signature annual events. By honouring these role models, we celebrate their dedication towards Singapore-China ties and hope that their conviction and perseverance will inspire young Singaporeans to emulate them and build on their legacies.”

Nominations are open to Singapore citizens & PR, residents of Greater China, Singapore organisations; as well as China organisations registered in Singapore.

The results of the 2015 Business China Awards will be announced in November during the Awards Presentation Ceremony.
