The inaugural Business China Youth Knowledge Programme (BCYK) was successfully held at Hwa Chong Institution from 27 May to 29 May 2024. This event attracted nearly 50 students from 10 different junior colleges, who were brought through a three-day rich and fulfilling learning journey.
During this three-day programme, participants gained a deeper understanding of the history, culture, technology, economy, and media of both Singapore and China through various immersive and experiential activities. They had the opportunity to tour Singapore’s culturally-rich streets and alleys, gaining insight into Singapore’s rich heritage. Apart from this, they also visited renowned Chinese enterprises such as Huawei International and the Bank of China, gaining exposure to China’s latest technology from the former and understanding the history of development in the banking and finance sector in Singapore from the latter. The programme included content-rich lessons on China’s culture and history and invited industry experts to share about the on-trend media in China. At the end of the programme, the participants’ creative and innovative abilities were put to the test in a Local Cultural Product Design Competition.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, our CEO Mr. Ho Chee Hin encouraged students to reinforce their Singapore knowledge, build upon their China knowledge, and use Chinese proactively in their everyday life.
