Singapore and Nanjing discussed AI development and will deepen collaboration

Business China delegation went to Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province for two major events from the end of May to early June.

On 31 May, Board Director of Business China, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Dr. Koh Poh Koon, together with Chairman of Business China, Mr. Lee Yi Shyan, and CEO of Business China, Ms. Tin Pei Ling, attended the 6th Singapore-Nanjing Special Projects Cooperation Panel (SNCP). Both co-chairman, Mayor of Nanjing, Mr Lan Shaomin and Minister Koh Poh Koon delivered their speeches and signed the Cooperation Committee 2018-2019 Annual Work Plan. Mr Loh Tuck Wai, Singapore Consul General in Shanghai and Mr Chu Yonghong, Vice Mayor of Nanjing, also attended the event.

Base on the signed work plan, both parties will further explore the innovative way of cooperation, as well as to expand cooperation to new areas, so as to accelerate bilateral cooperation to a new high.

On 1 June, the first Sino-Singapore Artificial Intelligence Forum 2018 was held at Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-Tech Island. Themed on “The In-depth Perspective, Dialogue with the Future”, this forum was jointly organized by Business China, International Enterprise Singapore, Lianhe Zaobao and Nanjing Municipal Government.

300 invited guests from both countries attended the forum and conducted discussions on “AI and smart city”. Minister for Finance Mr. Heng Swee Keat delivered an opening speech at the forum and he urged different parties, governments, businesses, academia and the public – to work together on research and development, creating a robust regulatory environment and promoting acceptance and adoption.

Minister Heng Swee Keat, Minister Koh Poh Koon and Mayor of Nanjing, Mr. Lan Shaomin also witnessed the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) at the forum.

The invited guest speakers of the  forum include former Minister of State for Manpower, Mr. Teo Ser Luck, Mr Li Deyi (academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, academician of Eurasian Academy of Science, chairman of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence), Ms. Jihong Sanderson ( visiting professor at Peking University, founder and chairperson of Future Map AI Business Lab, expert in AI commercialization),  Mr Chen Tao (rotating president of IFLYTEK) and Mr Ooi Beng Chin (director of Intelligence System Center of National University of Singapore, academician of Singapore Academy of Science).

Chairman of Business China Mr. Lee Yi Shyan led a delegation of 40 to attend the forum.
