FutureChina Series | Decoding China’s Two Sessions 2024

At the 2024 FutureChina Series | Decoding China’s Two Sessions forum held today, Professor Tan Kong Yam, Emeritus Professor of Economics, NTU and Mr Tommy Xie, Head of Asia Macro Research at OCBC Bank gave attendees an in-depth analysis of China’s economy, touching on consumer confidence, foreign investments, and more.

Furthermore, together with Mr Puah Tze Shyang, CEO of CapitaLand Investment (China), the panel shared their views on the potential of resuming confidence in the Chinese economy.

Held on 28 March 2024, the event focused on China’s economic strategies for 2024 as reflected by the government’s work report. The annual flagship event jointly organised by Business China and Lianhe Zaobao happens after the announcement of several policies at the Two Sessions (National People’s Congress (NPC) and National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)) each year. Speakers will analyse the challenges and prospects brought about by the discussion topics and released policies at the Two Sessions. The Forum serves as a platform for speakers to comment and exchange views, providing attendees a deeper understanding of the development and plans China has in the medium and long term.
