5th China Studies Seminar: Changing China in a Changing World

Business China collaborated with Yishun Junior College for the first time in conducting a China Studies Seminar on 4 August 2012. The theme for this year’s seminar was “Changing China in a Changing World”, which was exceptionally timely in view of the somewhat volatile world economic situation, and with China slated for impending leadership changes. This seminar provided an excellent platform for students to interact and cultivate a keen sense of interest in modern issues surrounding China.

Prior to the seminar, students formed teams and submitted research papers on their chosen topics in relation to China. The 34 original papers submitted discussed broad-based issues as well as localized controversies and brought forth many challenging ideas, reflecting the outstanding standards of the participants. Three Singaporean students from the winning teams would be eligible to participate in the Business China Youth Chapter China Learning Journey Trip to Beijing at the end of the year. This trip will further enhance their understanding of contemporary China through interaction with local students and business leaders.
