15th anniversary of Youth Affairs Committee and Youth Forum (SFCCA)

The Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) celebrated the 15th Anniversary of its Youth Affairs Committee on 25 June 2011, with the aim to encourage youths under the age of 45, who are active or are interested in the activities of the Chinese Community, to join clan associations and engage themselves more in promoting Chinese language, Chinese culture and traditions. Business China was one of the supporting organisations. A number of Business China Youth Chapter members attended the event.

In his opening address, Chairman of SFCCA and Business China, Mr Chua Thian Poh announced that 2 retired teachers who declined to be named, have donated $350,000 to the Chinese Language and Culture Fund (CLCF). The amount was matched by the government, totalling the fund to $700,000, to reward local primary school pupils who made the most improvements in the Chinese subject.

The Youth Affairs Committee launched a new tagline and website to celebrate the occasion. A forum was also held, featuring 4 speakers who shared with 400 youths their journey, enthusiasm and experience of joining their affiliated clan associations.

Mr Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Trade and Industry graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour.
