Business China and Nanjing Association for Science and Technology officially launches the Singapore-Nanjing 5G+XR Innovation Application Competition 2020

SINGAPORE, 15 May 2020 Business China and Nanjing Association for Science and Technology organises the Singapore – Nanjing 5G+XR Innovation Application Competition. Co-organised by Microsoft China, Qualcomm China Joint Innovation Center, Nanjing Yuhuatai Association for Science and Technology and Yuhuatai Private Technology Enterprise Association for Science and Technology; the competition aims to inspire scientific and technological innovation and meaningful exchange among youth 

Positioned as an important competition in the 5G application industry, participants are able to showcase creativity and professionalism in their technical skills. The competition promotes and support the originality of 5G product development such as product branding, product commercialisation and product development. It also serves to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents and accelerate the development of high-end technology in the two countries. 

Business China CEO Ms Tin Pei Ling expressed that the competition builds on the strong Singapore-China relations and is an opportunity to deepen ties at the people to people level. Business China is pleased to participate and host the competition alongside Nanjing Association for Science and Technology. We believe this will enhance the appreciation of both countries’ technological innovation and strengthen cultural connection as youths interact and learn from each other. 

She added that ‘Technology transforms lives and creates unlimited possibilities. The COVID-19 global pandemic changed the way we acquire new knowledge and communicate. This competition is a shining example of how interaction and learning have evolved to keep pace with new demands. 

The award ceremony of the Singapore–Nanjing 5G+XR Innovation Application Competition will be broadcast via online live-streaming concurrently in both cities. Management from Business China and Nanjing Association for Science and Technology (NAST) will be present. Award-winning participants and experts from both countries will be invited to present their work comprising scientific and technological innovation aspects.  

Competition details

Start of Competition 6 May 2020 onwards (Online registration and submission) 
Online Registration & Submission  6 May 2020 – 26 June 2020 (24:00 Hrs)
Preliminary Round  1 July 2020 (to shortlist finalist teams) 
Finals and Award Ceremony  13 July 2020 (to be confirmed) (to announce the champion team, 1st-runner up, 2nd-runner up and excellence awards) 
Participants’ Criteria 
  • Students from junior colleges, universities, and adult learning in the urban economic circle around Nanjing, as well as non-degree students formally enrolled in colleges and universities (Proof of enrolment required) 
  • Students from all Institutes of Higher Learning (including public and private universities as well as polytechnics) in Singapore, both full-time and part-time students
