Award Categories and Criteria

Business China Excellence Award

This award will go to an outstanding Singapore citizen, permanent resident, or resident of Greater China who can best demonstrate exceptional vision and leadership in the development and sustained growth of a business or profession in Singapore or China, respectively.

The candidate must also be an exemplary role model to other Singaporeans in the learning and appreciation of the Chinese language and culture.

Eligibility

  • The candidate should be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, or a Resident of Greater China.
  • If the candidate is a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, he/she should be involved in a business enterprise or profession in China.
  • If the candidate is a resident of Greater China, he/she should be involved in a business enterprise or profession in Singapore.
  • There is no restriction on gender, age or race.
The nominees for Business China Excellence Award are assessed in 5 key areas:
Corporate Candidate

If the candidate is from a corporation, the candidate or his/her organisation must have made a major contribution to Singapore-China relations. This can be in business or in the economic, social and cultural areas. In the case of candidate being a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, he/she should also be a good role model to other Singaporeans in the learning and appreciating of the Chinese language and culture.

Non-corporate Candidate

If the candidate is not from a corporation (for example, professionals, public servant and academics), the candidate or his/her organisation must have made a major contribution to Singapore-China relations. This can be in social, academic and cultural areas. If the candidate is a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, he/she should also be a good role model to other Singaporeans in the learning and appreciating of the Chinese language and culture.

The Candidate must contribute to the development of Singapore and China, in areas such as bilateral, social and economic development, creation of employment opportunities and nurturing of youths and talents. The candidate also strategically aligns their businesses to the national interest of Singapore and China, creating values for their businesses, the industry sector, the respective supply chains, partners and other companies in both countries.

The candidate must have made an outstanding and sustained contribution to his/her company or profession in China, or in Singapore if the candidate is a resident of Greater China.

In the case of a public-listed company, the candidate must have contributed substantially to the company's growth in profit, sales, and return on shareholders' funds. Consideration will be given to the standard of corporate disclosure of the candidate's company.

In the case of a private company or sole proprietorship etc, the candidate must have contributed substantially to the growth in his/her organisation's profit, sales and return on capital invested.

In the case of a non-corporate candidate, the candidate must have contributed substantially to his/her profession's growth and development as well as made a big impact in enhancing the reputation of Singapore in that profession.

Depth of Management

The candidate should have contributed to the improvement of managerial skills and the establishment of a viable profession or organisation structure.

Adaptability

The candidate must have adapted to the changing environment and demands in its related fields.

Tenacity

The candidate should have displayed perseverance and tenacity in working towards the goals and objectives of his/her organisation or profession.

Productivity

The candidate should have made a substantial contribution to improving the output of his/her employees in his/her organisation or profession.

Creativity/Innovation

The candidate should have an innovative approach to his/her work.

Integrity

The candidate's integrity must be of the highest standard.

Vision and Leadership

The candidate must possess great vision and astute foresight. He/She must be someone who has won the respect of his/her subordinates and whose actions set an example for his/her organisation or profession. He/she should be adept at motivating employees and have a track record of establishing and maintaining harmonious relations in the organisation or profession.

Entrepreneurial Abilities

The candidate must display outstanding entrepreneurial skills.

Social Responsibility

The candidate must have made a major contribution to enhance the quality of life of the community in Singapore and China. Examples include those who have supported the COVID-19 relief efforts, initiated the philanthropy works to help the disadvantaged and provided technical support to the communities in Singapore and China.

Business China Enterprise Award

This award will go to a company/organisation/institution that has best demonstrated exceptional drive and vision as well as enjoyed substantial growth in its business in Singapore or China, respectively.

Eligibility

  • Candidate must be a Singapore company/organisation/institution or a Chinese company/organisation/institution registered in Singapore
The nominees for Business China Enterprise Award are assessed in 6 key areas:

The company/organisation/institution must have made a major contribution to Singapore-China relations.

The company/organisation/institution must contribute to the development of Singapore and China, in areas such as bilateral, social and economic development, creation of employment opportunities and nurturing of youths and talents. The candidate also strategically aligns their businesses to the national interest of Singapore and China, creating values for their businesses, the industry sector, the respective supply chain, partners and other companies in both countries.

The candidate must have an outstanding and sustained growth in profits, sales and business developments in its related business in Singapore or China, respectively. In assessing the financial/business performance of the company/organisation/institution, the history of the establishment will also be taken into consideration.

The company/organisation/institution will be assessed on the success of its product innovation. For Singapore companies/organisations/institutions, the focus will be on the penetration of the China market through its ability to draw on the enterprise and expertise of its Singapore base. For China companies/organisations/institutions based in Singapore, the focus will be on its business operations in the Singapore market.

The company/organisation/institution must display an effective management style and have a viable organisational structure. The company must have a track record of establishing and maintaining harmonious relations within the organisation and set examples for the industry it is in.

The candidate must have made a major contribution to enhance the quality of life of the community in Singapore and China. Business China Young Achiever Award

This award will go to an outstanding young Singapore citizen or permanent resident, or a resident of Greater China who has best demonstrated exceptional leadership and vision in the development and sustained growth of a company/organisation/institution. The candidate must also demonstrate strong potential and has outstanding achievements in its career in Singapore or China, respectively.

In addition, the candidate must also be a role model for Singaporeans in the areas of progressive learning and appreciation of the Chinese language and culture.

Eligibility

  • The candidate should be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, or a resident of Greater China.
  • If the candidate is a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, he/she should be involved in a business enterprise or profession in China.
  • If the candidate is a resident of Greater China, he/she should be involved in a business enterprise or profession in Singapore.
  • The candidate must be at or below the age of 45.
  • There is no restriction on gender and race.
